Biography

To Amanda Martin, singing is like breathing. Born and raised in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York, she spent her early life listening to her parents perform the best of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Ernest Tubb in the honky tonks of the North Country. Amanda's first musical expression rang true to the traditional roots of country music when, at the impressionable age of 3, she joined her parents onstage to sing Ricky Skaggs' hit song "Honey." This innocent maneuver unlocked the door for Amanda to discover her natural talent. Determined to be self-motivated, Amanda established a love for the guitar and spent her high school years playing and singing any chance she could. Less than two months after she graduated, Amanda left the mountains of New York for the hills of Tennessee where she enrolled in the Music Business program at Belmont University.

While attending her Sophomore year at Belmont, Amanda was awarded the opportunity to perform live with MCA recording artist Vince Gill by winning the prestigious “Best of Belmont” competition. A college-wide search for the best vocalist, the contest involves choosing the top four recorded tapes from close to a hundred submissions. The final four are then required to perform live in front of four judges, all professionals in the music industry. In 2000, Amanda Martin stunned them all with her polished and powerful performance. She won the “Best of Belmont” and her subsequent performance with Gill is a moment she will never forget.

She has a unique ability to deliver the emotion of highly complex songs, while making the entire performance seem effortless. However, Amanda is not just another great voice. She is also a gifted guitar player and songwriter. To date, she has co-written with such notable tunesmiths as Mark Collie “Forget About Us,” Harley Allen "The Little Girl,” Brett James “Who I Am,” James House “Ain’t That Lonely Yet,” and Bud Lee “Friends in Low Places.”

Amanda Martin is mesmerizing to everyone who hears her. Beautiful, spunky, talented, and dedicated to making the most unique music possible. She is, truly, one of a kind.
